Travelift - Shelter Island Marina and Boatyard Inc - Travelift
Shelter Island Marina boasts two of the largest Travelifts on the pacific coast. Our 70 ton Travelift is capable of lifting vessels and pleasure craft up to 80 feet long with a beam of 18 feet; while our 150 ton Travelift can handle any vessel up to 120 feet long with a beam of 29 feet.

Shelter Island Marina & Boatyard Inc. is pleased to announce that we have taken over operation of the 150 ton Travelift and look forward to continuing to serve you as we have done with our 70 ton Travelift. We offer additional products and services such as Gift Certificates.

Remember Shelter Island Marina & Boatyard is a "FULLY OPEN YARD"

Preparing to move under travelift.
Vessel is hoisted out of the water by the travelift.
1. The Travelift is the first step in getting your pleasure craft in or out of the water. 
2. Here the Travelift is preparing to pick up a pleasure craft from the boatyard. Lots of preparation is needed.

 
3. The Travelift is going to end up on the special dock which will allow the boat to be lowered into the river.
4. Here the Travelift has arrived at the pleasure craft currently on blocks ready for the water.

5. The straps that will lift the pleasure craft are carefully positioned under the pleasure craft.
6. Once everything is lined up the Travelift straps are brought up ready to lift the boat.

 
7. With everything in place, the Travelift hoists the pleasure craft off of its blocks.
8. With the pleasure craft now freely hanging from the Travelift, the journey to the Fraser River begins.

 
9. After some slight adjustments and safety checks, the Travelift heads on.
10. Here the Travelift is heading to the Fraser River at a slow 4 kph with the craft suspended from the Travelift.

 
11.The Travelift continuing its short journey towards the special Travelift ramp built on the Fraser River.
12.The Travelift now above the special ramp ready to start lowering the pleasure craft into the Fraser River.

 
13.Slowly the pleasure craft begins its 5 minute journey down into the water.
14.Still suspended firmly, the Travelift slowly lowers the pleasure craft into the Fraser River. 

 
15. The Travelift continues to lower the pleasure craft into the Fraser River.
16.The pleasure craft touches water while still suspended firmly from the Travelift..

 
17.The pleasure craft is now floating in the Fraser River while still strapped to the Travelift.
18.The Travelift starts to release the belts that were holding the pleasure craft.

 
19.The pleasure craft is now free from the Travelift allowing both to carry on in their separate journeys.
20.The Travelift returns to the Boatyard to pick up the next pleasure craft.
